Fishtrap Yearlong: June 23-28 2026 in Enterprise Oregon and then monthly zooms and packets and another residency in summer of 2027: https://fishtrap.org/writing-workshops/

There’s a book inside you. Make this the year you committed to writing it. In this well-regarded yearlong program, writers will embark on the joyful journey of writing a book. With Laura Pritchett as guide, participants will focus on essential and practical considerations for a longer narrative, whether it be fiction, nonfiction, experimental or hybrid mixes. The year begins and ends with a week at the Fishtrap Summer Gathering, and in between, writers benefit from regular community, including monthly zooms, workshops, and craft classes—providing structure, guidance, and rigor. Discussions include serious and robust examinations of structure, themes, point of view, launching spots, building character, developing setting, and sustaining a plot. We’ll also focus on the psychology of it all—as Laura likes to say, “You date a short story or essay, but you marry a book.” How can we sustain the long-term relationship required to finish a long project?

"Excellent, worth the whole weekend. Laura was outstanding, a natural speaker. Great writer, teacher. Poised, authentic, gifted with important things to say, and finely honed maturity as a storyteller and writer. Good writing, humble, honest, clarifying."

"Dear Laura: The passages you chose to read, your answers to questions, and the impromptu workshop foisted on you were outstanding. The examples and small writing project worked really well especially when you used your short story to tie the lesson together. Thanks again for your very professional work."
